Do You Need to Shake Things Up?

What do you need to do to shake things up in your life? What feels stale, stagnant or lifeless? Perhaps your job, your relationships, your environment or your everyday life needs some energizing.

If you work out on a regular basis, you know that you need to change your exercise program frequently in order to keep it fresh and effective. If you continue to use the same routine for months or years, you plateau and don’t experience the benefits of working out. It then becomes boring and easy to drop.

If you don’t redecorate your house on occasion, it can feel dull, dreary or lackluster. I have perfectly good summer clothes that I can wear this year, but I am sure you would agree that it feels good to go out and buy a new outfit. We may not need to redecorate or buy new clothes, but those actions do serve to shake things up and raise our energy.

It can be easy to fall into the same old, same old routine, because it works. The problem is that it doesn’t take much thought or imagination and your life just becomes a series of long boring days.

So, what do you need to do to shake thing up in your life?

· go on a shopping spree
· redecorate your bedroom
· create a new summer exercise routine
· look for a new job
· take up a new hobby
· plan a vacation

Perhaps you just need to make some simple changes.

· take a new route to work
· change seats at the dinner table
· try out a new hair style or hair cut
· de-clutter your office
· stop complaining for a whole day
· wash the dishes by hand instead of using the dishwasher (Ok, maybe that’s not such a great idea, but I hope you get the point.)

Shaking up your life in big or simple ways gives you a different perspective that can leaving you feeling alive, energized, and full of new ideas. Don’t let yourself get stagnant and bored. Shake it up.

Action Challenge

Commit to getting out of your daily routine this week.
Commit to shaking up your life in big or small ways.
Make at least one new change everyday this week.
Above all, have fun shaking things up.
